A Comeback, a Ring, and a Yes

Oct 30, 2025

Had the ring in my pocket all weekend. We flew to Buffalo to watch our Bills play in Week 1—a tradition we started last year.

Last year, she and I celebrated during a huge win over the Chiefs in Week 11, and I thought to myself, “I’ve never felt this good.” Everything was perfect in that moment.

I’ve loved this team since I was a little boy, and I’m emotionally attached to them for a multitude of reasons. When you grow up tough, you find things to make you happy. The Bills were one of those things.

There are a million reasons to marry Sarah, and one of them is her equal love of this team. She adopted a lifestyle I’ve always wanted with someone—and more. So, of the many ideas I had, proposing this weekend was perfect. I had no idea how it would all play out. I even had a plan for if the Bills lost: I’d tell her, “Even when we lose, we win.”

But the story that night was different. The Bills seemed destined to lose, yet they pulled off one of the most amazing comebacks I’ve ever seen. That same feeling from last season flooded back, and she was right by my side—cheering and crying with me, just like last year. She jumped in my arms, and we celebrated the win.

And the best part? She was already my fiancée. An hour before kickoff, as we sat in our seats admiring the stadium and the energy, sipping on some Labatt Blues, I pulled the ring out while it was still quiet and asked her to marry me. Simple, normal, and authentic. We had our moment, then watched one of the most magical and beautiful games unfold before our eyes.

Thank you for being such a perfect person for me, Sarah. I love you more than you probably realize. One thing I do know—we will always win in the end.
